What the Export & Preservation Packaging Kit is:
The Export & Preservation Packaging Kit is a Patent Pending system that integrates a vacuum sealable cover, an export skid and a means of easily securing an asset to the skid into one complete kit that reduces the cost of preserving and shipping valuable assets. The skid is equipped with six carriage bolts and eye nuts that are through bolted to the skid’s stringers. They provide secure anchor points for the included tie-down straps, thus no customer bolt hole locating and drilling is necessary. A flexible laminated barrier base sheet is hermetically sealed into the skid that the included three dimensional cover is sealed to. The cover and base sheet are fabricated with BluGaurd-VCITM Anti-Corrosion Barrier Lamination to prevent corrosion and any appreciable gas or water-vapor transmission. The Export & Preservation Packaging Kit is an all inclusive preservation kit. It eliminates any on-site cover and skid fabrication or modification while drastically decreasing the total rigging time needed to preserve and ship any asset.
What The Export & Preservation Kit Offers:
  • A 48” x 48“ skid manufactured using NWPCA approved heat treated lumber that is an internationally accepted export material.
  • The skid and cover accommodate machines with up to a 41” x 41” foot-print and a height up to 83.5”
  • The skid can safely hold a machine weighing up to 7,000 lb.
  • Each ratchet and tie-down strap is rated for a 3,000 lb load.
  • The skid, with a machine at the maximum height allowance or below, is designed to economically pack into a sea-going container, rail car or truck.
  • 6 carriage bolts with eye-nuts are through bolted to the stringers, eliminating bolt pull-through issues.
  • 1“ thick plywood is fastened to the deck boards that adds structural strength and acts as a nailer for crating after packing is complete.
  • BluGuard-VCITM is used for the base sheet and cover material to provide water vapor and gas barrier properties and VpCI protection for all types of metals.
  • The base sheet of barrier material is hermetically sealed into the skid and protected by a 1/4” thick sheet of plastic.
  • The cover is three dimensional and utilizes our EZ-Seal FlangeTM that exactly matches the base sheet edges for fast and simple package closure and air evacuation.
Fast and Safe Equipment Packaging Procedure:
  • Cut plastic banding and remove the corrugated Export Kit Cap
  • Remove Export Kit items from skid deck
  • Position Export Kit Skid in convenient and accessible location
  • Un-tape the base sheet
  • Position the equipment on the Export Kit skid
  • Unpack and use the preservation tape to adhere the foam padding to corners and sharp points
  • Use the three tie-down straps and ratchets with the eye-bolts to secure the equipment
  • Use the preservation tape to adhere foam padding to the tie-down ratchets
  • Unpack and place the VCI emitting foam sheets in equipment
  • Unpack, unfold, erect and position the Export Kit cover over the secured and padded equipment
  • Align the Export Kit Cover flange to the Export Kit Skid flange
  • Unpack and use the barrier tape to tape the corners together
  • If you have (or ordered) a hand-held heat sealer use it to seal the flanges together
  • If you do not have a hand-held heat sealer use the remaining barrier tape to seal the flanges together
  • If you wish to evacuate the air from the package, leave 4 inches of flange area unsealed or un-taped
  • Insert a vacuum hose through the 4 inch gap and evacuate the air
  • Seal or tape the final 4 inches of flange area closed
  • If required, use the 1 inch raised deck as a nailer for crate walls
  • Ship or store your equipment worry free
